Executors’ Duties
An executor is the representative named in a will who is responsible for settling the deceased’s estate. This may involve as many as 70 individual tasks — from filing a terminal tax return for the deceased, to distributing personal effects to named beneficiaries, and managing the estate assets until distribution is complete.
An executor’s duties can be time-consuming and complex. For even a small estate, there are many details and communications to look after. In many cases, these duties must be carried out at a time of emotional upheaval.
