What to do if you have a travel emergency

  • If you have a medical emergency, we'll help you. If you don't speak the language of the country you are visiting, don't worry. Our multilingual professionals can co-ordinate on your behalf with a local doctor or nurse to arrange the care you need. We can also contact your family or employer at home and arrange any other assistance you need.
  • If you have purchased travel insurance that includes cancellation and interruption insurance from a travel agent, and you need to cancel your trip, call your travel agent to cancel your trip and then call us as soon as possible.
  • If you have your policy or certificate number handy when you call - it will make it easier for us to help you. This number can be found on the front cover of your policy booklet and wallet card or on your certificate of insurance if you've bought your insurance through a RBC Royal Bank branch or online. If you don't have your policy or certificate number, don't worry, we'll still be able to care for and assist you in your time of need.
