Being in an accident can be a highly stressful situation, but knowing what you need to do can help alleviate some of the tension.
First things first – stay calm and deal with any medical emergency. Then call your insurance company. They should be able to provide you with advice and guidance on what needs to happen next.
Once on the phone, your insurance company should help you assess the amount of damage done to your vehicle and determine if the police need to be called and then call them for you.
They should also explain your existing insurance coverage, make all the arrangements for a tow truck, and rental car if you need it and recommend a repair facility that you’re comfortable with. If needed, an on-site claims advisor could be sent to the accident location to provide additional support.
