If an accident strikes, you may need a plan to help cover expenses related to hospitalization and recovery.Government and employer-sponsored health insurance plans may only cover some of the costs of a hospital stay due to an accident—and less (if any) of your costs afterward.
Royal RecoverAssist Basic Coverage helps you fill the gap with a tax-free benefit that you can use for anything you want—pay for hospitalization costs, medications, in-home care, transportation to and from medical facilities, childcare and more.

If you are hospitalized because of an accident, our affordable Royal RecoverAssist Basic Coverage plan provides you with a tax-free benefit that you can use any way you wish.
For example, if you are hospitalized for five days, you could receive up to $200 per day, plus a lump-sum payment of $1,000. Your total payment would be $2,000, tax-free. The maximum possible Basic Coverage benefit amount is $146,000.

You are eligible to enrol for Royal RecoverAssist Basic Coverage if you are:
You may also enrol your spouse if he or she is between the ages of 18 and 74.
If you are not married, but have been living with your partner for at least one year, he or she can enrol for coverage under your plan.

Royal RecoverAssist Basic Coverage will provide a tax-free benefit to you or your spouse for hospitalization resulting from an accident.
Basic Coverage does not provide a tax-free benefit for hospitalization due to any of the following:
Basic Coverage also does not provide a tax-free benefit for hospitalization due to illness. (Enhanced Coverage provides a tax-free benefit for hospitalization due to illness or accident.)

Your daily benefit amount is the tax-free amount you would receive for each day of hospitalization, to a maximum of 365 days per condition. You would also receive a lump-sum payment equal to the total value of your daily benefits during hospitalization.

1) Acceptance is guaranteed if you meet the following conditions: You are a current customer of any RBC® company, you are between the ages of 18 and 70, and you are a Canadian resident. You may also enrol your spouse if he or she is between the ages of 18 and 74.
2) RBC Insurance® will pay your first month's premium.
